Updated: Mar 28, 2023

For National Women in Construction Month, VSS International Inc. would like to raise a shout-out to a few of our hard-working women in construction.

VSS Project coordinators and QC Rockstars:

Amanda Brousseau and Secilia Hernandez are project coordinators at VSSI who spend their days supporting Project Managers and Project Superintendents pull together and construct over 100 projects a year. Amanda and Secilia have teamed up with Molly Gibney and Noelle Jambon who manage VSSE’s laboratory and Quality Control program to share their knowledge. Molly and Noelle have graciously spent time with Amanda and Secilia to demonstrate the various testing procedures and mix design processes.

“I am proud to work with a company in a highly male dominated construction trade that values its female employees. VSS International provides multiple training opportunities to further my knowledge within the exceedingly competitive asphalt preservation industry. In addition to the multiple seminars and conferences VSS has graciously sent me to my most recent training was in the VSS lab. Lead Laboratory Technician Molly Gibney has wisdom beyond her years and Noelle Jambon is a lab tech who certainly knows her stuff. They walked me through creating Slurry Mix Designs with aggregate from Coachella Valley Aggregates.” – Amanda Brousseau, Project Coordinator VSS International, Inc.

Sharla Parks, Process Manager "Extraordinaire" Sharla Parks, Process Manager for VSS Emultech, started her career with VSS in 2000. Over the years she has performed a variety of roles for both VSSI and VSSE. She is detail-oriented and dedicated to her craft. She has been around long enough that she has seen most sides of the entire operation. Currently, she oversees all things VSSE Drivers, including a lot of accounting paperwork and Dispatch. She spends much of her time behind the scenes fixing internal issues before they become major problems. Additionally, her commitment to, and leadership of the company’s BUILD Team has helped bridge VSS with the other Reed Family Companies.

With Sharla's everyday dedication and willingness to get involved, the benefits can be felt by all of the Reed Family of Companies. VSSE & BUILD would like to give Sharla a big shout-out and thank you for all she does!

VSS Payroll Rockstars:

Although these ladies don’t operate rollers, chase Macropavers on foot, or drive tanker trucks, they are just as much involved in the construction industry. We at VSS are extremely fortunate to have Nicole Martinez as part of our team.

Nicole has served VSS for the past 16 years where she started as an HR Generalist helping with recruiting, onboarding, and all phases of human resources that keeps the VSS machine rolling. Nicole has since been promoted to Payroll and Logistics Manager where she leads the Payroll Team. Nicole’s role has also expanded into the operational side of our business with the onset of electronic logs and electronic payroll systems whereas she is the face of our company to many of our employees.

Amilia Cablayan has worked with the VSS Payroll Team for almost 7 years. Amelia has exceled in her role as Sr. Payroll Specialist and has become an interictal part of the payroll department.

This Team has worked diligently to navigate very complicated prevailing wage laws and produce on time payroll under stressful weekly deadlines.

These ladies are an integral part of what allows our crews to consistently bring home a paycheck each week. These ladies work hard to gather up all the hours, code everything properly, and still make payroll deadlines even during the hottest times of the season. Our VSS Payroll Team is a fitting example of how important women are in construction.

We are proud to see our Women in Construction working together. VSSI would like to give these ladies a BIG Shout-Out and appreciation!
