Another Rewarding Day Volunteering with the CWA Building Wood Duck Boxes

Updated: Mar 31, 2024

Seventeen employee volunteers came together to support the California Waterfowl Associations Wood Duck Program. This years group of both seasoned box builders along with first time participates got straight to work to assemble 75 wood duck boxes. Along with that our volunteers cut, sawed, chopped, drilled and glued wood pieces to prep for future assembly an additional 75 boxes! Our wonderful volunteers did a great job.

The CWA Wood Duck program was created in 1991. Its main goals are to increase both nesting boxes and citizen involvement in the fate of wood ducks. Since its creation, nearly 992,000 ducklings have leapt from the boxes placed as a result of this program. This program is the biggest citizen science effort of its kind and has also partnered with UC Davis researchers who do studies on the wood ducks nesting habitats, hen health and population growth.

Thank you to all our Reed Family Company employees and guests that came out to support this effort!
