Each year, George Reed Inc teams up with Boy Scout Troop 488 to clean up the Camanche Reservoir as part of the Great Sierra River Cleanup. This collaborative region-wide watershed cleanup effort is organized each year in conjunction with the California Coastal Cleanup Day, the largest volunteer event in the state.
On September 23, 2023, five scouts joined Scott Williams, Ian Davies, and Hayden Lee from our environmental compliance team to collect roughly 150 lbs of trash from the reservoir. After the cleanup event, the environmental compliance team teaches the scouts about all the things our companies do to be good stewards of the environment as well as what do to in the event of a spill. The scouts then return to one of our camp grounds near one of our sites to hone their skills and work towards earning their badges.
