Early in September we held a volunteer event in partnership with the California Waterfowl Association. This being our first experience with this type of activity, I don’t believe anyone knew exactly what to expect from this combined effort. Well, I’m so pleased to inform you that not only was this an incredible experience for all 20 plus volunteers, but our combined efforts achieved a single day volunteer record of 134 wood duck boxes built. Look at what we can accomplish when we come together!
The BUILD Team is incredibly grateful to all the people who came out to volunteer their time for this worthy organization. The labor we provided helps California Waterfowl continue to provide habitat for duck species, which turns into an educational opportunity as they collect data from these boxes that give wood ducks a safe place to nest and hatch their eggs. These grassroot efforts ultimately allow them to also provide help to veterans for their mental and emotional health with other programs they offer. The story doesn’t end here. During conversations with the staff from CWA, Jeff and Margaret Reed agreed to place some of the wood duck boxes on both the Clements (George Reed) and Waterford (711) properties bringing this opportunity full circle.
Of course, this would not be possible without our awesome volunteers and the full support we receive from both Jeff and Margaret Reed.
A big THANK YOU goes to: Jeff Reed, Margaret Reed, Sean Meza* (711), Judy Kelly* (711), Sharla Parks* (VSS), Chris Marr* (GRI), Mark Groetzen (711), Josh Zensen (711) Mike Kellogg (GRI), Chase Waddell (GRI), Brand Lasater (711), Jennifer Beale- Torres (GRI), Adam Andrews (711), Scott Williams (Basic), along with some of their family members.
