George Reed, Inc. is proud to be a sponsor for the 148th year of the Ione Homecoming Picnic. Ione Homecoming is an annual celebration that has been held during the month of May almost every year since that first Centennial celebration in 1876. The celebration will begin on Friday May 10th and last all the way through until the evening of Saturday May 11th.
Looking for something to do over the weekend? Take the family and head to Ione for fun, food and games!
The kick off to the very busy two days celebration of Ione will begin with the Elementary kid's costume parade held Friday morning. This parade always shows great support and enthusiasm from the parents of the students. Following the parade the celebration will take you out to Howard park.
The carnival will open, major league baseball game will be played, Bingo, Corn-hole tournament, Mutton Bustin, Kids Corral, Live music, and of course the Fireworks. This day is a county favorite.
If your feeling motivated you can start your Saturday with a 5k Bed Bug Run located at Castle Oaks Golf Course. After working up an appetite you can head to Main Street for the Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Ione Cub Scouts.
Then the famous Ione homecoming Parade will begin shortly after. Once the parade is completed the Soap Box Derby will begin. Howard park will have lots of events happening as well. Including the Frog Jump, Cow Chip Bingo, Vendor Booths, Horseshoe tournament, Petting Zoo, Chili/Salsa Cook-Off, Live Music, Kids Races, Candy Drop, Rib Cook- Off, Goat Roping, Dummy Roping, Bull Riding, Bronc Riding, and more!
Check out the schedule and other information below. Admission fees applicable per event. General admission to the parade and park are free.
George Reed is proud to support the community and it would be great to see some familiar faces out there in support of the event!
