Great Sierra River Cleanup Taken to a New Level!

The B.U.I.L.D Team

Updated: Oct 31, 2022

The Sierras produces 60% of California’s water supply and provides the state with 50% of its hydroelectric energy. The Reed Companies have been participating in the Great Sierra River Clean-up for almost 15 years by providing resources and Tee-Shirts for volunteers who gather each year to clean up waterways of the Sierras impacted by waste. Due to low water flow in the river this year, employees teamed up with Troop 488 to clean up the Comanche Reservoir. Our entire Environmental and Land Use department participated in the clean-up and went beyond expectations by developing a comprehensive training program for the Boy Scouts who attended, and forged a partnership program with the Boy Scouts for future trainings. Not only were these scouts able to earn their Environmental Sciences Merit Badge with this training, but this experience has fostered the importance of environmental stewardship in their lives.

Thank you to the Environmental and Land Use team for taking the time to teach a new generation how to conserve humanity’s most precious resource – our planet!
