At George Reed’s employee appreciation lunch in November, the opportunity for both construction and plant crews to relax in fellowship led to lively conversations which shared a common theme of pride in craftsmanship. Snippets of discussion included the importance of never being late to the job site, of reviewing tomorrow’s plans to ensure understanding (or to correct mistakes before they happen), attention to detail to minimize any rework, getting bid and paperwork out with all i’s dotted and t’s crossed, ensuring that day to day problems in the field are resolved and that we stay on schedule, performing consistently and tirelessly so that the job can be looked back on with pride. It was especially heart warming to hear about the knowledge and skills that are being passed on to a next generation of craftsmen and craftswomen.
Customers of 7-11 Materials expect and receive the finest service in the ready-mix industry. This spirit of service extends to the communities in which we work as evidenced by this recent message received by dispatch: “I just want to pass along a pleasant call I just received from a John Miller out of Bodfish. He and his wife travel three days a week from Bodfish to Ridgecrest. He wanted to let us know that they are very appreciative of the courtesy of the 7/11 drivers traveling that route. He stated that our drivers pull over at every opportunity to allow others to get by and keep traffic moving. He said he and his wife have noticed this for quite some time and wanted to let us know. “
VSS International and VSS Emultech regularly receive industry awards for quality workmanship, products, and people. VSSI’s Pavement Preservation Projects have won 6 of the last 8 International Slurry Seal Association’s President awards. VSSE’s plants have been recognized for 3 years in a row by the Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association for consistency and quality of materials produced. Operations Manager, Jon James, received the 2022 Western Regional Association of Pavement Presentation’s Lifetime Achievement Award (see March newsletter for more info).
