In December, the leadership team spent time discussing the importance of living up to our core values of Excellence and Innovation, while treating all with Integrity and Respect. If we abandon a core value the moment the going gets tough, then it is not really a core value.
As stated in our S.E.R.V.I.C.E. Principles, a commitment to ETHICS is foundational to maintaining relationships with our employees, customers, communities, vendors, regulatory agencies, and professional associations. We can demonstrate the importance of integrity by ensuring our actions support business ethics. Ethical business conduct builds a foundation for long-term success.
Some examples of this are:
Do what you say you are going to do. Backup your words with actions and follow up.
Be honest with everyone -both internal (with your co-workers) and external.
Just say that you don’t know if you don’t know.
Do the right thing, even when no one is looking.
If you make a mistake, take ownership of it. A team that openly addresses and learns from errors will strengthen trust within the group.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t ask, don’t get.
Be genuine.
